Big Spring Principal Brings
Home Anti-bullying Program
January 28, 2009 —A Big Spring principal has won a state-of-the-art, anti-bullying curriculum from a pool of thousands. Dana Byrd, Principal of Kentwood Elementary, won the curriculum in a drawing at the annual Texas Association of School Administrators Midwinter Conference and Education Expo, beating over three thousand other conference attendees.
The new curriculum, called Facing Fear Without Freaking Out, is published by the Austin-based Trevor Romain Company. It is the first of its kind to specifically educate students on common fears, such as test anxiety and public speaking, and includes an entire class set of workbooks, journals, readers, and an award-winning DVD.
